UC Irvine Law Student Annie Hong Selected the Winner of the 2025 Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Outstanding Law Student Award

IRVINE, Calif. (June 11, 2025) — University of California, Irvine School of Law rising third-year law student Annie Hong has been named the recipient of the 2025 Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Outstanding Law Student Award by the Women’s White Collar Defense Association (WWCDA). Annie was selected from a competitive pool of nominees across the U.S. and Canada for embodying U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s legacy of “commitment to excellence, perseverance, resilience, extraordinary work ethic, and tireless efforts to ensure justice for all.” She will be presented with the award at the WWCDA’s Annual Awards Gala on December 2, in Washington, D.C. 

“I am deeply honored to receive this award in Justice Ginsburg’s name,” said Annie Hong. “Her example of excellence and perseverance inspires me to bring those same values into our UC Irvine Law community and into my work that lies ahead.”

This award marks Annie’s second major honor this year. She was also recently selected as a recipient of the Korean Prosecutors Association scholarship, recognizing her commitment to future service in prosecution and contributions to the Korean American legal community. Annie serves as the UC Irvine Law liaison to KPA as well as serving as a KPA intern. In 2024, she received a Korean American Bar Association of Southern California Foundation Scholarship

Annie is currently a litigation summer associate at Allen Matkins, LLP and has previously externed in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California. She also serves as a Korea Law Center Research Fellow and Lead Articles Editor for the UC Irvine Law Review. She is active in numerous student organizations, including the Asian Pacific American Law Student Association, the Federal Bar Association’s UC Irvine Law Chapter, and the Orange County Korean American Bar Association. A deeply engaged member of the campus community, Annie is an Admissions Ambassador who chose to attend UC Irvine Law for its robust pro bono opportunities, commitment to experiential learning, and strong community of military-connected students. 

Annie currently serves as an Army Reservist, holding the position of Finance Operations and Policy Officer in a brigade-level command, and has volunteered at the Veterans Legal Institute. Originally from Torrance, she holds a Master of Public Administration and a B.A. in Cognitive Science from the University of Southern California.
