IRVINE, Calif. (Nov. 19, 2025) — The University of California, Irvine School of Law is pleased to announce that Chancellor’s Professor Alejandro Camacho; Claire Foster (’25), Associate at Andrews & Higgins in Newport Beach; and Maryam Meechka Zomorodian (’20), Program Director of Global Programs at UC Irvine Law have been recognized by the Association of American Law Schools (AALS) in the organization’s 2025 Pro Bono Honor Roll.

In recognition of their selection, Anna Davis, UC Irvine Law’s Director of Externships and Pro Bono, shared the following highlights of each honoree’s contributions:

  • Chancellor’s Prof. Alejandro Camacho is recognized in this year’s Honor Roll for supervising eight law students, who are tracking current actions of the executive branch and researching potential congressional response options.
  • Claire Foster (’25) graduated with the second most in the history of UC Irvine Law – almost 700 hours. She was a dedicated volunteer during every semester of law school helping a variety of clients and causes including domestic violence victims; transgender individuals applying for a name change; former criminal defendants seeking to change their lives; families with adult dependents; victims of the Los Angeles fires; and low-income clients in need of estate planning, family law assistance, healthcare access, advanced healthcare directives, and housing assistance. Claire also served as a student leader for the Street Law Program, and spent every spring break serving clients on alternative break trips to Louisiana and Mississippi.
  • Maryam Meechka Zomorodian (’20) is recognized in this year’s Honor Roll for her willingness to travel with students on alternative break trips, making access to justice accessible to individuals in other areas of the country such as Mississippi and Montana. Maryam is also one of the alumni supervisors for students working with victims of the Altadena fires on FEMA appeals.

The Pro Bono Honor Roll acknowledges and highlights the pro bono work of individuals engaging in, expanding and/or supporting their law school community in providing pro bono legal services. For the purposes of this award, pro bono is defined as work that is primarily legal in nature, supervised by a licensed attorney (for law students), not for pay or academic credit and of service to underserved individuals, groups or those with barriers to access to justice.
